Creators Simon Spurrier and Jeff Stokely somehow keep this depressing sounding future light. How? For starters, the dialogue and banter is so fun and fast paced it's hard to realize how messed up everything is. Plus, I really enjoyed their swearing. All that &$&@/! always makes me laugh and try to figure out which swears fit best.
Jeff Stokely's art is just so original and fresh it's nigh impossible to not be impressed. Giant turtles with tanks on their shells, wind-up guns, crazy creatures, and, of course, the beast with big guns. It's all so beautiful and insane at the same time I didn't stand a chance. Andre May's coloring adds another element that makes it a spectacular first issue.
I'm already hooked on this story and The Six-Gun Gorilla was barely in it! I can't wait to see what happens next.
Steam punk. Gorillas. Westerns. Dystopian cyberpunk. What else is there to say.
Original and very enjoyable. Loving this series. Can't wait to see how it ends.
